Today was National Running Day and we took over.

At 6 pm, the ladies of Black Girls RUN! Columbia took to the streets to celebrate. It felt good to run the streets in the Shandon neighborhoods together.

There was no better way to celebrate than with one foot in front of the other.

The mission of Black Girls RUN! is to encourage African-American women to make fitness and healthy living a priority.

Black Girls RUN! wants to create a movement to lower that percentage and subsequently, lower the number of women with chronic diseases associated with an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle.

There is no better way to do that than getting active.Since everyone couldn’t get together, ladies took to the street on their own and with their family.

I have been running and off for the past four years. I’ve typically trained for an event and then fallen off the bandwagon until I register for the next event. But my life has changed with BGR! Columbia.

Did you get out today for National Running Day?
